A Story from Sara!
It was the summer of 2003, and Micky was touring with "Aida"... and one of the stops was in San Jose, CA(which was a few hours away). I got two front row tickets to go with my closest friend(she hadn't met Micky - yet, I've already met him before).. well 2 weeks before the show we get bad news - it turned out my friend's ex husband passed away and she had to take care of everything (funeral, will, etc).
I was bummed..next person was another friend. All was good to go until a few days before... my friend got sick. "Oh come on!!" I thought. I mean Micky knowing I was coming and I did not want to turn it down.
The last person was one of my parents... well since my mom saw the Monkees in 1997 with me, lets try my dad. Dad went along, and we already had a place for the night so we won't be tired from driving back home(thanks to my sister and her family). So all was ready to go..I had Micky's book(I left it in the car the previous year for him to sign), and a few other things.. like a photo of his father from 1955 that I have. I knew where the cast was exiting after the play, so that was set.
So we get to the theater - early. What really stunk was no cameras were allowed and the theater crew was right next to me so I couldn't sneak a picture or 2.
To make a long story short... the play was great - I ended up getting some stuff. So afterwords my dad and I went to go find where the cast was leaving at... and not long after getting there who comes out - Micky! I told him who I was to refresh his memory and he did remember me and I proceeded to intoduce Micky to my father(and my father would not stop bragging about it when he went back to work a few days later that he met Micky). We exchanged small talk, and proceeded to let him sign some stuff. When I gave him the photo of George he goes "My father! He looks awfully young there!" and I reply "Yeah, I know it was from 1955." We took some photos my dad did from his camera and I did too. When my dad took one of the photos with Micky I can remember Micky saying "Good one!" I keep that photo on my desk with some others, even tho I'm leaning on him.. it's ok, it's still a picture with him..right? Then it was time to go, and when I said "Bye Mick see you soon" and he goes "Bye Darlin."

The Monkees Touring this year is so exciting for so many people in so
many ways. It gives fans who wanted to see them in concert but were to
young the chance to see them first hand. Now a new generation of fans
who are experiencing them for the first time, by watching their shows
on Antenna TV will have the opportunity to see them LIVE. First
generation fans (such as myself) can go out and see them again, and
again, and again. For me personally I saw them in concert in the 80's,
90's, and even the 2000's. If you have always wanted to see The
Monkees in concert this year gives you the opportunity. Check out the
upcoming concert dates on The Monkees Tour page on facebook go to the
event page, and find the nearest concert(s) to you and buy your tickets
you WON'T be disappointed.
